State Track Results

Two Vikings made it on the awards stand at the state track meet. Ariana Zuccaro ran a personal best 1:01.51 in the 400m dash on Friday to qualify for finals where she would finish in eighth place.  Sarah Wedel also ran a personal best 49.88 in the 300m hurdles to qualify for finals where she would place eighth as well. The other season best for the weekend was the girls 4x100m relay which ran 52.92 but missed finals, placing 10th.  The team also had to handle some disappointment due to dropping a baton in the 4x200m relay.  A more competitive team this season, the Vikings look forward to more state qualifiers and better finishes the next time around.

The state track meet is an fantastic experience due to watching amazing races, state records and photo finishes. It’s also amazing to watch young athletes compete until their bodies will carry them no further or  jog around the track just to finish the race although hurt.  There are false starts, dropped batons, disqualifications and hurdle wrecks.   All from some of the best high school athletes in South Dakota who are just trying to end their season on the highest note possible.

Arianna heads to the finish line.

Sarah finishes strong.

Arianna placed eighth in the 400m dash. Congratulations!

Girls Golf Places 5th at State

James Valley Christian Girls Golf at Aberdeen
We had a very good tournament.  I am really pleased with the way our girls competed.  Coming in 5th as a team was our team goal and a wonderful achievement.  The girls played really consistent and did not let little things get to them and each one of them competed really hard the whole time.
Alison and Tara were able to improve their position in day two to help solidify our team placing.
Tia had another solid round on day two competing in the top two groups and was able to maintain her position and finish tied for 9th and receive All-State honors.

Standing with their 5th place plaque: Coach Tim Nihart, Tia Nihart, Allison Kruse and Tara Nihart.

Tia Nihart (front row, second from left) was in the top 25.

Girls Golf Team Heads to State

Our JVCS girl’s golf team was able to achieve one of their goals this year by taking second at the Region II meet.  Overall, Tia placed second with a 89, Allison tied for fourth with a 93, and Tara tied for 14th with a 105.  Mr. Nihart commented, “it was a wonderful accomplishment for our girls and I am thrilled for them.  We are excited to see what our team can do at state.  The goal there will be to finish in the top eight as a team and receive a plaque.”
Even though each of our players qualified themselves to state by their own score, the top two teams in each region automatically qualifies each team member to state.

Our boys had a good meet.  We did not have a qualifier, but we did manage to better our team score from pre-regions which was our goal.  Josh shot a 95, Adam shot a 103, and Ethan shot a 124.

Graduation 2010

Family and friends looked on as, one by one, they walked across the stage to accept their diplomas. Finally, with great joy, they turned their tassles and became alumni of James Valley Christian School. Congratulations, class of 2010. Blessings to you in your future plans.
