Heidi is the story of a little girl who is taken by her unpleasant Aunt Dete to her hermit Swiss Grandfather up in the mountains to live. Heidi immediately falls in love with the freedom of the mountains, the goats, Grandfather and the fun she has with Peter the goat herder. Aunt Dete returns to take Heidi to serve in the city as a companion to a invalid child, Clara where Heidi feels, while enjoying Clara's company, the lack of freedom in a city. She misses her mountains and her grandfather so much. Clara's grandmother teaches Heidi the lifelong lessons of turning to God in prayer through Heidi's sadness and homesickness. When at last she is reunited with both, the story unfolds in a wonderful conclusion of hope and joy.
