JVCS Cattle

Providing Finances For the General Fund

The Cattle for Christian Education Program is a major benefit for JVCS. The program began in December of 1965 with 37 purchased and 4 donated calves. When sold, they brought a profit of over $4,000 to the school.

Soon after, a cattle program was established. JVCS purchased the cows and farmers agreed to care for them. In the early years a note was established at the bank to purchase the cows. When the calves were sold, the general fund received half of the income and half was used to pay off the note.

Following is a report of the cattle program for the past 5 years:

JVCS cattlemen are unsung heroes. The men and women who care for JVCS cattle have faithfully cared for the cows and calves in the good weather and the bad. They willingly put up feed for the JVCS cows. When the calves go to market, the check is written to James Valley Christian School.

For over 40 years these efforts have been a reliable benefit to help pay salaries, maintenance bills and other general fund expenses.

The efforts of our cattlemen have helped JVCS provide a quality Christian education.
